Sparkling
and subtle colours display in Françoise Selezneff's watercolours
a vision of nature full of sensitivity. The artist likes travelling
- and the sea. Discovering wild regions, unknown beaches, sunlit alleys
and ancient cities is what inspire both her writing and her painting.
With a few brushes of watercolour on her notebooks, Francoise Selezneff
has already marked the slender silhouettes of boats ; the ridges of
a dune stroked by the wind ; the simplicity of Sardinian coasts and
the charm of islands once so cherished by Ulysses. Sometimes watercolours
are painted in nature on small size canvases. Larger watercolours are
painted in her studio. The rhythm of each stroke and each line takes
its mark naturally, emphasized as they are by the contrasts of shades
and lights. The artist's movements are spontaneous and full of confidence,
they control the path of pigments across the water and offer to us images
of serenity in blazing landscapes. The right shade, the bright blue
of the sky or the sea and the ochre pink of sand beaches create a unique
atmosphere, which consists of picturesque landscapes. Each watercolour
looks like a poem, a moment of truth. |
